Thinking of opening your own book keeping or accounting business yet don't know where to start? How to Open your own in-home bookkeeping service 2nd edition includes ALL OF THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS!
Have you already purchased other "How to" instructions but feel like you are missing something. This book fills the gap of what you are missing!
First and foremost, this is not a get rich quick scheme, you actually do have to work. Success takes time and effort, and if it sounds too good to be true, it normally is. The information written on these pages are to explain and train you on what you are responsible for if you open you own in-home bookkeeping service. They are simply guidelines and steps to follow to avoid making embarrassing mistakes. They are the questions that hundreds of people have asked me how to do.
I have some simple questions that I want you to ask yourself...
-
How much do you make per hour? Are you satisfied with your current pay. Did you know the average hourly charge for a bookkeeping service starts at $25.00 per hour? The best going rates for good bookkeepers are between $25.00 per hour and $45.00 per hour. There are two types of people in the world, workers and independent achievers. If you have even considered owning your own business, then you have the ability to be an independent achiever, not relying on "working" for someone else the rest of your life. If you can't stop thinking about getting out of the vicious repetitious circle of being someone else's employee and want to make an honest living with earning a decent pay, quit making excuses because there is never a "right" time to do it. A great number of self-employed professionals did not quit their day job until they felt secure enough to go out on their own. I was one of those. There were a lot of late night and weekend jobs, and I wouldn't change a thing. We have all been in fear of the unknown, where your next check is going to come from, how are you going to survive, join the millions of successful business owners who have gone through that day in and day out, yet are successful and WON'T EVER GO BACK TO WORK FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
INDEPENDENT BOOKKEEPERS ARE IN HIGH DEMAND!
-
Let's assume you're a bookkeeper and your boss just informed you that he's cutting your hours so he doesn't have to cover your benefits package and the company is financially struggling. He only wants you to work 15 hours per week. At $10.00 per hour that really hurts your pocket book and you can't survive. There are hundreds of contractors, lawyers, small business owners who can not afford full time bookkeepers, and the word employee carries so much liability with it to a business owner that an independent bookkeeper relieves them of that burden and 15 hours per week at $25.00 per hour with a $375.00 bill doesn't seem that bad when you've eliminated benefits, workers compensation, company politics, etc.

FREE insight on what to charge based upon your area! The best way to find out what a good going rate is in your area is to pick up the Sunday paper. Look for temp agency ads posted for accounts payable, bookkeepers, accounts receivable, etc. There is a formula to go by. If a bookkeeping position is posted in the paper for $17.00 from a temp agency, then this is what the client is paying; $17 per hour + payroll taxes 7.65% + insurance and work comp add another 3%, company overhead 10% and the agencies profit 30% = (7.65+3+10+30%) = 50.65% x $17.00 = $25.61 per hour. This would be right about where the client is paying the temp agency for that temporary bookkeeper. Therefore, a good going rate for the basic full charge bookkeeping would be $25 to $26 per hour. The client is ALREADY paying it to a temp agency!
-
If you currently make $10.00 per hour you're making $20,800 per year working full time, at least five nine hour days per week for someone else. The current going salary for a bookkeeper is between $9.00 and $14.00 per hour. Wouldn't you rather work 2 days per week making over $12,000 more per year than working full time for someone else? If you do the math, you would only need to work 65 eight hour days per year to make the same amount of money that you are working 260 eight hour days per year for someone else.

Are you interested in just supplementing your income. If you are in the bookkeeping, accounting or clerical field, you've probably already been approached by someone who knows someone who needs help with their business bookkeeping. Just two small clients that you work on weekends or evenings could bring you an extra $300.00 per month. That could help your finances catch up on overextended credit cards. You would be surprised, just by supplementing your income and providing a quality service to your clients, you'll love the freedom so much that you will set goals to "quit your day job", and you will end up earning so much more than your day job could ever pay you!
The data I have written in my book took years to learn the hard way, and I am basically giving away my secrets. The most important information that I have written is
"HOW TO GET CLIENTS!"
-
If you opened your own bookkeeping service, where would you go to find clients? Cold Calling? Placing Ads in the newspaper? I can tell you right now that that doesn't work! It will take you ten times a long to get a client. People don't like solicitors, and they won't appreciate you cold calling them! What do you think a temporary agency does? If you have ever worked temp, there is no difference in contracting accounting and bookkeeping services. They're billing you at $25.00 per hour. The mentality of an employer does not want to pay high wages to an "employee" but you're in a different ball game when you're a "Temp" or a "Independent Contractor". Then $25.00 per hour is standard. Standard, the employer/business owner knows it's standard, the temp agency knows it's standard, but the employee thinks $10.00 per hour is standard. You need to get yourself out of the "employee" title to earn the respect and money that you're worth.

If you could make almost $50,000.00 per year only working 3 days per week, leaving a four day weekend to spend with your family or friends? Take weekend vacations that you were criticized for just thinking about before, wouldn't you do it? You can finally decide when to make your appointments, and go to the Christmas play your child is in without feeling guilty from a boss who doesn’t agree with families coming first! I still to this day never feel guilty about changing an appointment or running a day behind because my children or I were sick. How many times have you been written up from calling in sick when you had a fever of 101? Or when your children had to be picked up from school because they were sick or hurt? Clients understand family values, bosses don’t!!! When you offer a "trust service" to your clients, you become an acknowledged asset to their business operations.
I'm sure you're wondering if you have the right skills to open your own bookkeeping business, if you have the drive and ambition, and the basic fundamentals of bookkeeping (even just paying your bills at home and balancing your checkbook) then you are on the road to a very profitable market! There is a lot of money to be made in this market, and companies will always need a good bookkeeping service!. If you don't like accounting or bookkeeping, then I can assure you, this isn't the right industry for you. You need to enjoy what you're doing or you won't have a good ora, and it is true when it comes to trust. Your ora is very important, your clients are trusting you with their financial information, and if you send the wrong message, it will be difficult for you to succeed or even find clients. If you're not sure on your bookkeeping abilities, and feel you need a little touch up on training, "I Have QuickBooks, Now What?" will be a great tool. You can order both at a discounted rate below. This double pack has become the most popular order because it not only gives you the independent bookkeeper an idea of how the small business owner thinks and views accounting, but it helps you understand and translate their bookkeeping in a way that your clients will understand it, which they will appreciate.
I remember when I first opened up my accounting and bookkeeping service I had actually called around to friends and family acquaintances and asked them where I could go to get certain information, how they did it, what worked the best, and I can honestly tell you that they wouldn't tell me anything! It is considered competition. If you could find the resources that I am giving to you, would you buy it to save yourself years of trial and error on learning what works and what doesn't? I'm an entrepreneur of sorts, and live by the resources and steps in my book. I sold my clients three times to venture off on different business ideas, and each time I needed to earn money and start up my accounting business again, I was busy within the first two months. How to open your own in-home bookkeeping service has everything you need to know about opening your very own bookkeeping business!
